👨💻 Why Start PPop.PH
I've been a huge Tito Bloom since the beginning of Jan 2024. (In case you're not familiar, a "Bloom" is a BINI fan.)
One of the very first things I did was check and buy bini.ph and binified.com because I wanted to help protect and promote my bias PPop girl group.
TRIVIA: "Binified" was originally planned to be a site dedicated to BINI. The idea for the name was from "Soshified", a site dedicated to SNSD, a KPop girl group dubbed as "The Nation's Girl Group" in Korea. And who is the Philippines' "National Girl Group" again? 🤔
Then they skyrocketed and went mainstream in 2024, therefore no longer needing any help in terms of promotion and "publicity".
The Drama
As they became a household name, it was inevitable that they would face a number of issues and get a ton of publicity: both good and bad. It was just too much that even I got tired, not of them but of the drama and of the toxicity. Until late 2024, I listened to BINI almost exclusively and so I tried branching out: listening to other groups and seeing what is PPop outside of BINI.
And again, one of the first things I did was check and buy PPop.PH with the intent of:
- combining my passion of web development and love of music,
- promoting ALL PPop groups, and
- adding a (mostly) self-hosted website to my portfolio.
And I won't be a hypocrite, I've also thought of maybe getting something in return: money, partnership with the groups and/or their management, online fame and reputation, job offer, etc. down the line. But all those are at the bottom of the list.
The Project: PPop.PH
Right now, the site is very barebones: an incomplete list of artists, sparse to almost no information about each group's members, their discography and YouTube-ography, news scraped from other sites, and... not much else.
I do have a list of ideas, some of which I'm already working on, but it's hard to do everything by myself. Being an introverted fan is another blocker because I can barely get feedback from the target users of the site.
So if you've reached this point, check the site out (PPop.PH) and let me know what you think. Any feedback or ideas would be greatly appreciated. 🙇♂️
